Lisa and Paul's - Vintage Winter Wedding Celebration

Lisa & Paul’s wedding, Cubley Hall, Penistone

November 27th, 2010

Our lovely friends at PH Weddings (Sheffield based wedding photographers) took these stunning images at Lisa and Paul’s wedding and we are lucky enough to share them with our blog readers. We regularly meet with PH Weddings for a coffee and catch up, Helen had said what a lovely couple Lisa and Paul were and how much they were looking forward to their vintage inspired wedding celebration.

This wedding was full of vintage items that Lisa had collected, including an antique pearl necklace and antique brooch handmade by her mum. The flowers were beautiful and rustic, matching their theme perfectly .The adult bridesmaids wore gowns from Monsoon, had pearls in their hair and kept the chill off with cosy wraps. Lisa had her own vintage fur wrap to keep her warm too. The wedding party had a short journey to Cubley Hall for the ceremony. The ceremony room was lit with candles and accessorised with lace wrapping the chairs and candelabras. Paul looked dapper in his suit, a massive smile broke over his face when Lisa walked down the aisle. Friends read some lovely personal readings including an extract from the Velvetine Rabbit and a recital of the song “I want to grow old with you”.

They ventured out into the snow for some photos afterwards. Lisa and Paul braved the cold for some more photos in the bandstand, the view over the Yorkshire Hills was spectacular. Guests moved back into the hall for some mulled wine before it was time for the reception.

Lisa and her friends and family’s hard work had certainly paid off, the centrepieces were gorgeous vintage teapots filled with flowers and teacups which had been made into candles, there was a post box for cards in the shape of a teapot as well! All the placecards, lace trimmings, seating plan and favours were all stunning, guests all received a heart brooch from the British Heart Foundation as a donation had been made in memory of Lisa’s father. Guests tucked into a carvery buffet before the speeches began. PH Weddings took the happy couple out when it got dark for a few more photos, the scene looked so Christmas-like. They left the guests dancing together in a massive circle, everyone was so happy and all of Lisa’s hard work had paid off, she was a true vintage queen on her wedding day.

Thank you to PH Weddings for allowing us to feature their work, congratulations to Lisa and Paul – we wish you many years of love and happiness.

Katy & James - Real Life Wedding - Tepee Style

Katy & James - 9th August 2009

We wanted to share this real life wedding with all our lovely readers. Instead of having a traditional wedding ceremony many couples are now opting to have a bespoke wedding ceremony. UK law states that couples have to marry between the hours of 8am-6pm and it must be under a legal/permanent structure! Boo! It hardly fills the dream of getting married at sunset in the English countryside.

Katy and James are one couple who opted for such a bespoke wedding ceremony, they had a humanist wedding ceremony in a Tepee tent (provided by Papakata) in the Yorkshire countryside. A humanist ceremony is not constrained by law and it can be conducted at any location and venue. These ceremonies are conducted by a celebrant and can be as simple or complex as you want them to be. Readings, own vows or unity candles can be added. This quirky and fun loving couple had a tepee tent, english afternoon tea and an open air disco. This being the UK rain on the day, but the couple embraced this and Shoot Photography captured the day so beautifully. P.S love those wellington boots Katy, a must fashion accessory for an outdoor wedding!

Wedding Daze are supporting the Any Campaign, which is aiming at collecting 1000 signatures to present to the Uk Government. The campaign aims at getting a change in the UK wedding laws, so couples can marry anytime and anyplace.

"Ok so lets set the scene…. It’s a marriage outdoors in the middle of a field in the beautiful English countryside. There’s a Tepee which doesn’t quite hold all the guests as it’s going to be gorgeous and anyway the seating will be outside on hay bales. There will be champagne and cream teas on the lawn after the ceremony and a fab open air disco in the evening, oh yes and we’ve agreed to photograph AND film the wedding too – no worries. Hang on what’s this ……. RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN and then some more! Did it matter – not one jot. Katy and James are probably two of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. I fell in love with them both within five minutes of meeting them. I was so worried that it would rain and spoil everything for them but actually I think it made the day. Wellies were the chicest footwear choice and running around in the rain just didn’t seem to bother anyone. The children loved getting soaked and muddying their clothes – and so did Katy! They were rewarded in the evening with the most amazing sunset for the first dance. Now, for those of you who don’t know me, I always shed a tear at our weddings but I admit to actually blubbing at this one. It was all just so utterly, fantastically, brilliantly amazing. We LOVED it!!!!!" Jo at Shoot Photography

James & Karen: Wedding Day Co-ordination by Wedding Daze

Couple: James & Karen
Venue:
Holy Trinity Church, Wentworth followed by a Marquee Garden Reception, Rotherham

Service from Wedding Daze: Wedding Day Co-ordination

Karen and James contacted us as they wanted an informal, relaxed and stress free wedding day. They asked us to co-ordinate their wedding ceremony and reception, ensuring their day ran smoothly and to time.

On their wedding day, I was at the ceremony ensuring that the Church was set up correctly, the guests arrived on time and were seated, orders of service were handed out and also co-ordinating the guests for photographs. It was a beautiful Church service, and was very moving and personal to James and Karen. Vincent was at the garden reception ensuring that the marquee was set up correctly, suppliers arrived on time and were show to their correct place/set -up. When the ceremony was over I then joined Vincent at the reception and we worked together to make sure it ran smoothly and to time.

James and Karen opted for a English/vintage tea party look to their wedding celebration. The marquee was beautifully set out with vintage tea cups, saucers, cake stands and tea pots (I love this look!). Each was individual and gave the wedding a unique and personal feel to the day. James and Karen hired Angelic Angels to entertain and look after the children that came to the wedding. The wedding breakfast was catered for by PJ Taste, a fantastic catering company who provided James and Karen with a delicious 3 course meal including Roast Rivelin Valley Topside Beef - yummy! It was a pleasure to work with PJ Taste, more about their personal catering service can be found here.

A fabulous fact about this wedding is that James designed and made Karens wedding dress (he does in work in fashion!) I think don't think that happens very often! Karen looked beautiful (see pictures above!). Karen also surprised James with the arrival of his sister from South Africa!

We wanted to say a big thank you to James and Karen and both their families for making us feel so welcome on their wedding day.

Below is a few kind words that they have said about us! Congratulations, we wish you many years of happiness, such a lovely couple! More images of this beautiful day can be found here x x

"When we planned our wedding our main goals from the onset was to keep it very personal and to create a welcoming, homely atmosphere where our friends and family could relax and enjoy a very special day with us. We wanted to keep it stress free and be able enjoy every moment of it. This required the help of wedding co-ordinators, and as it was a small and intimate wedding, we absolutely had to get the right people for the job. Vinny and Emma were just what we wanted From the onset they were very professional and friendly and very personable. They made perfect hosts for the event.

Being flexible in the service they provided, they were able to tailor to the specific requirements of our special day. They are both very reliable. I am often asked if I remember much of the day and if it went very quick. Contrary to expectation I remember it all and it felt like one of those days that just lasted a long time. This I believe is due to us fully trusting Wedding Daze with the important bits and just being able to sit back and enjoy the day. Many guests were full of praise as well, complementing on their friendliness and courtesy. Their service comes highly recommended." By James & Karen
