Lisa and Paul's - Vintage Winter Wedding Celebration

Lisa & Paul’s wedding, Cubley Hall, Penistone

November 27th, 2010

Our lovely friends at PH Weddings (Sheffield based wedding photographers) took these stunning images at Lisa and Paul’s wedding and we are lucky enough to share them with our blog readers. We regularly meet with PH Weddings for a coffee and catch up, Helen had said what a lovely couple Lisa and Paul were and how much they were looking forward to their vintage inspired wedding celebration.

This wedding was full of vintage items that Lisa had collected, including an antique pearl necklace and antique brooch handmade by her mum. The flowers were beautiful and rustic, matching their theme perfectly .The adult bridesmaids wore gowns from Monsoon, had pearls in their hair and kept the chill off with cosy wraps. Lisa had her own vintage fur wrap to keep her warm too. The wedding party had a short journey to Cubley Hall for the ceremony. The ceremony room was lit with candles and accessorised with lace wrapping the chairs and candelabras. Paul looked dapper in his suit, a massive smile broke over his face when Lisa walked down the aisle. Friends read some lovely personal readings including an extract from the Velvetine Rabbit and a recital of the song “I want to grow old with you”.

They ventured out into the snow for some photos afterwards. Lisa and Paul braved the cold for some more photos in the bandstand, the view over the Yorkshire Hills was spectacular. Guests moved back into the hall for some mulled wine before it was time for the reception.

Lisa and her friends and family’s hard work had certainly paid off, the centrepieces were gorgeous vintage teapots filled with flowers and teacups which had been made into candles, there was a post box for cards in the shape of a teapot as well! All the placecards, lace trimmings, seating plan and favours were all stunning, guests all received a heart brooch from the British Heart Foundation as a donation had been made in memory of Lisa’s father. Guests tucked into a carvery buffet before the speeches began. PH Weddings took the happy couple out when it got dark for a few more photos, the scene looked so Christmas-like. They left the guests dancing together in a massive circle, everyone was so happy and all of Lisa’s hard work had paid off, she was a true vintage queen on her wedding day.

Thank you to PH Weddings for allowing us to feature their work, congratulations to Lisa and Paul – we wish you many years of love and happiness.

Katy & James - Real Life Wedding - Tepee Style

Katy & James - 9th August 2009

We wanted to share this real life wedding with all our lovely readers. Instead of having a traditional wedding ceremony many couples are now opting to have a bespoke wedding ceremony. UK law states that couples have to marry between the hours of 8am-6pm and it must be under a legal/permanent structure! Boo! It hardly fills the dream of getting married at sunset in the English countryside.

Katy and James are one couple who opted for such a bespoke wedding ceremony, they had a humanist wedding ceremony in a Tepee tent (provided by Papakata) in the Yorkshire countryside. A humanist ceremony is not constrained by law and it can be conducted at any location and venue. These ceremonies are conducted by a celebrant and can be as simple or complex as you want them to be. Readings, own vows or unity candles can be added. This quirky and fun loving couple had a tepee tent, english afternoon tea and an open air disco. This being the UK rain on the day, but the couple embraced this and Shoot Photography captured the day so beautifully. P.S love those wellington boots Katy, a must fashion accessory for an outdoor wedding!

Wedding Daze are supporting the Any Campaign, which is aiming at collecting 1000 signatures to present to the Uk Government. The campaign aims at getting a change in the UK wedding laws, so couples can marry anytime and anyplace.

"Ok so lets set the scene…. It’s a marriage outdoors in the middle of a field in the beautiful English countryside. There’s a Tepee which doesn’t quite hold all the guests as it’s going to be gorgeous and anyway the seating will be outside on hay bales. There will be champagne and cream teas on the lawn after the ceremony and a fab open air disco in the evening, oh yes and we’ve agreed to photograph AND film the wedding too – no worries. Hang on what’s this ……. RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN and then some more! Did it matter – not one jot. Katy and James are probably two of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. I fell in love with them both within five minutes of meeting them. I was so worried that it would rain and spoil everything for them but actually I think it made the day. Wellies were the chicest footwear choice and running around in the rain just didn’t seem to bother anyone. The children loved getting soaked and muddying their clothes – and so did Katy! They were rewarded in the evening with the most amazing sunset for the first dance. Now, for those of you who don’t know me, I always shed a tear at our weddings but I admit to actually blubbing at this one. It was all just so utterly, fantastically, brilliantly amazing. We LOVED it!!!!!" Jo at Shoot Photography

Wedding Daze: Supporting the Any Campaign

Getting Married?
Want to get married at anytime & in the location of your choice?

The marriage laws in the UK constrain couples to get married under a permanent structure, it must also have a roof and foundations! The ceremony must be licensed by a local registrar and take place between 8am - 6pm.

If you dream of getting married outside, perhaps in the countryside watching the sunset then we are afraid to say your dream wedding celebration can not become a reality. The marriage laws in the UK (which were decided in 1837) are outdated to couples who want a unique and memorable wedding celebration.

This is why we are backing the Any Campaign. This campaign needs 1000 British signatures for the campaign to be presented to the British Government. The campaign is being driven by Tino and Pip who want to... well you've guessed it get married Anytime & Anyplace!

Wedding Daze would like to wish the Any Campaign the best of luck! We are backing you all the way , please sign up and support them here :-)

Mark & Belinda: Venue Decoration & Styling by Wedding Daze

Couple: Mark & Belinda
Venue:
Botanical Gardens & Whirlow Hall Farm, Sheffield

Service from Wedding Daze: Venue Decoration & Styling

Mark & Belinda wanted an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding celebration. They had been collecting many Alice themed decorative items to allow them to style their wedding reception which was in a Marquee at Whirlow Hall Farm.

The Mad Hatters Tea Party that they wanted to recreate would need a lot of styling and time spent setting up. As with many couples, they wanted to relax and enjoy their wedding day, ensuring that the venue was set up correctly and to their style. This is were Wedding Daze worked with Mark and Belinda. When the guest arrived at the venue, they wanted an afternoon tea and cake.

We met with them to go through all the items they had collected and to discuss how they wanted the venue styled. There were many items, rustic clocks, flamingos, tea cups/saucers, to hats, bird cages, playing cards.....etc to be added into the decor of the venue. We also had site visits to Whirlow Hall Farm to discuss the layout of the Marquee and garden area. Mark and Belinda also wanted the garden to be decorated with these fabulous throne chairs, candles, lanterns and mirror balls!

On Mark and Belindas wedding day we arrived early and set up the Mad Hatters Tea party, decorated the Marquee and also the garden area of Whirlow Hall Farm . The first time Mark and Belinda saw the venue was after their ceremony at the Botanical Gardens. We are very pleased to say they were delighted with the results and have gave us a glowing testimonial (see below!).

Mark and Belinda were a pleasure to work with, their creativity was emense and we are glad Wedding Daze could turn their unique vision into a reality. The images above are from the very talented Helen and Paul from PH Weddings, they capture the day beautifully.More images from Mark and Belindas wedding can be found here.

-----------------------------------------------------------

We were introduced to Emma and Vincent at Wedding Daze following a discussion with Helen at PH Weddings where I mentioned how terrified I was at the prospect of setting up our Alice in Wonderland inspired wedding reception at Whirlow Hall Farm.

From the very beginning Emma made me feel at ease and expressed great enthusiasm for my ideas. She was professional and approachable, taking comprehensive notes to ensure she had a thorough understanding of our needs on the day. During the build up to the wedding day Emma offered further consultation via email and would also spontaneously email suggestions of things she thought I might like or want to consider. Little touches like this really made the service offered personal.

In the fifteen months of planning I had amassed a rather large collection of vintage crockery, lanterns and other Alice inspired props. Once laid out this nearly filled a room but Emma and Vincent were unshakeable when faced with it! Again, they both filled me with confidence in their abilities and demonstrated ingenuity and resourcefulness. After this second consultation I was able to relax, safe in the knowledge that regardless of what else might happen on the day at least the reception would be taken care of. Emma and Vincent also seamlessly liaised with our suppliers on the day, meaning we had nothing to worry about other than getting married!

On the day itself we were so busy that the first opportunity we got to see the reception was as we arrived with our guests. We were both overwhelmed by how beautiful the farm gardens and marquee looked; both had been transformed by Emma and Vincent's work. Our specifications had been rather particular, right down to what sort of fastening to use to attach our miniature mirror balls to the tree branches. Each detail of the reception was realised with both practicality and artistic flair. Importantly, the marquee and gardens continued to look fantastic throughout the night, despite the interventions of fifty or so guests.

We would heartily recommend Wedding Daze to any couple looking to take some of the pressure off themselves whilst also adding unquantifiable value to the planning and execution of their wedding plans and dreams.”
