The Royal Wedding with a Yorkshire Twist

With the Royal Wedding nearly upon us, Wedding Daze and photographers PH Weddings wanted to create the Royal Wedding with a Yorkshire twist. There has been much speculation about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding day. Questions such as, which designer will Kate use for her gown? Have they used a wedding planner? What style of reception will the couple go for?

Along with PH Weddings we created William and Kate’s wedding day with very unique twist to it. We styled two looks that William and Kate could opt for. The first look was a traditional, vintage inspired afternoon tea. With mis-matched china, cream tea and a stunning lace dress with a long cathedral veil. The second look was a cool Britannia inspired shoot, more fun and quirky, this shoot was inspired by the colours from the union jack flag. To make the shoot look even more realistic our models David and Kaytie were our very own William and Kate look-a-likes!

We would like to thank all the fantastic suppliers who contributed towards the shoot and also Cusworth Hall who let us use this fabulous venue. Cusworth Hall is the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony and reception, the Hall has stunning rooms and also gorgeous grounds for photos. Last but not least, a huge thank you to Helen and Paul at PH Weddings who’s ideas, vision and stunning photography made this shoot one of a kind. PH Weddings offer a relaxed, unobtrusive and unique style of wedding photography to capture your big day.

Lisa and Paul's - Vintage Winter Wedding Celebration

Lisa & Paul’s wedding, Cubley Hall, Penistone

November 27th, 2010

Our lovely friends at PH Weddings (Sheffield based wedding photographers) took these stunning images at Lisa and Paul’s wedding and we are lucky enough to share them with our blog readers. We regularly meet with PH Weddings for a coffee and catch up, Helen had said what a lovely couple Lisa and Paul were and how much they were looking forward to their vintage inspired wedding celebration.

This wedding was full of vintage items that Lisa had collected, including an antique pearl necklace and antique brooch handmade by her mum. The flowers were beautiful and rustic, matching their theme perfectly .The adult bridesmaids wore gowns from Monsoon, had pearls in their hair and kept the chill off with cosy wraps. Lisa had her own vintage fur wrap to keep her warm too. The wedding party had a short journey to Cubley Hall for the ceremony. The ceremony room was lit with candles and accessorised with lace wrapping the chairs and candelabras. Paul looked dapper in his suit, a massive smile broke over his face when Lisa walked down the aisle. Friends read some lovely personal readings including an extract from the Velvetine Rabbit and a recital of the song “I want to grow old with you”.

They ventured out into the snow for some photos afterwards. Lisa and Paul braved the cold for some more photos in the bandstand, the view over the Yorkshire Hills was spectacular. Guests moved back into the hall for some mulled wine before it was time for the reception.

Lisa and her friends and family’s hard work had certainly paid off, the centrepieces were gorgeous vintage teapots filled with flowers and teacups which had been made into candles, there was a post box for cards in the shape of a teapot as well! All the placecards, lace trimmings, seating plan and favours were all stunning, guests all received a heart brooch from the British Heart Foundation as a donation had been made in memory of Lisa’s father. Guests tucked into a carvery buffet before the speeches began. PH Weddings took the happy couple out when it got dark for a few more photos, the scene looked so Christmas-like. They left the guests dancing together in a massive circle, everyone was so happy and all of Lisa’s hard work had paid off, she was a true vintage queen on her wedding day.

Thank you to PH Weddings for allowing us to feature their work, congratulations to Lisa and Paul – we wish you many years of love and happiness.
